Lunch & Learn Series: Double-Feature

June 6 @ 11:30 am - 3:00 pm

AOC, APG-Susquehanna Chapter Lunch and Learn Series

Date: Tuesday, 06 June 2023

Time: 1130 to 1300 AND/OR 1330 to 1500

Venue: CACI Main Conference Room, 6240 Guardian Gateway, APG

Session #1 – Development of Cognitive EW Datasets

In this seminar, we will review the challenges that mode-agile radar and EW threat emitters pose to traditional static threat library implementations in radar and EW systems, and assess the architecture of cognitive Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) systems that can be used to deliver effective RF countermeasures.

We will then discuss how MathWorks® MATLAB® can be used to create training datasets for radars, communication systems, and other RF emitters to ensure robust training of deep learning and machine learning algorithms for use in cognitive radio applications. We will demonstrate data synthesis techniques that include the effects of propagation channels, hardware impairments, and interference sources.

We will conclude with a discussion of a wideband RF record, simulation and playback system that can be used to create realistic training environments with over-the-air (OTA) measurements of those AI & ML systems running on real-world hardware.

Session #2 – Cognitive EW Systems: Addressing Mode-Agile Threat Emitters (Repeat Presentation)

Following our regular Lunch and Learn session, we will then offer a repeat presentation of our previous seminar on Mode-Agile Threat Emitters. In this seminar we will review the challenges that mode-agile or WArtime Reserve Modes (WARM) RADAR and EW threat emitters pose to traditional static threat library implementations in RADAR and EW systems. We will outline and assess the architectures of cognitive Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) systems that can be used to deliver effective RF countermeasures. We will discuss how techniques can be used to train AI/ML engines and evaluate the responses and effectiveness of those countermeasures on representative RF hardware.

Additional Information:

  • These are in-person events only.
